News Release: HAMILTON, Bermuda – Michael Watson and his wife, Sophia Cannonier, are set to appear in court again at 9:30am on Monday, December 13th and Tuesday, December 14th, 2021 to face seven charges.  The new dates were set after they appeared in court on Thursday, November 4th, only to find that as a result of other ongoing cases, they were unable to be accommodated on their original date.  These court proceedings are the Department of Health’s response to the civil disobedience displayed by the Watson-Cannonier family at the LF Wade International Airport when they returned to the island with two of their young children on Sunday, July 11, 2021.  According to the Department of Health, the initial charges for their actions are as follows:

1. Refused to comply with a requirement to quarantine as directed by a health officer

2. Failed to complete the travel authorization form

After a failed attempt to arrest the family during a massive police operation that started after 11 pm on the evening of their arrival and continued until approximately 4 am the next morning, the Department of Health determined that the family required 24-hour police presence outside their residence and sent an order for them to appear in court, via zoom, on Thursday, July 15th.

That day both Michael and Sophia pleaded not guilty to the charges and Senior Magistrate, Juan Wolffe, concluded the hearing by ordering the family to remain in their residence until such time that they had received a negative Day 8 test on July 19, 2021.  After receiving this order in writing the family was denied a Day 8 test by the Government Lab and were left to cover the cost of having their tests processed privately.

Despite adhering to the order, served to them by Senior Magistrate Juan Wolffe, additional charges were served to the family on July 21st, 2021 for:

3. Breach of the 14-day quarantine

4. Unauthorized visitors in a place of quarantine

Penalties for these charges are as follows: up to $25,000 in fines and/or six months imprisonment

The position of the family is that they are all naturally immune after testing positive for COVID-19 and recovering. They have also taken multiple antibody tests through the King Edward Memorial Hospital in three (3) month increments to confirm prior infection and to determine the presence of robust antibodies over time.

It is also important to note that prior to their arrival in Bermuda on Sunday, July 11th, 2021, the Cannonier-Watson family filled out travel authorization forms, to the best of their ability, paid $300, and received notification that the forms had been rejected.

The Watson-Cannonier family is represented by Marc Daniels of Marc Geoffrey Barristers & Attorneys Ltd and they have garnered support from the following local and international medical professionals who have all agreed to testify on their behalf.

DEFENSE WITNESSES

Dr Amne Osseyran, MD is a key consultant in Bermuda’s effort to contain and treat the global COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a General Practitioner at Island Health Services in St George’s. She is also a single mother of four, a former dancer who achieved professional-level proficiency, a Berkeleyite who finished at the top of her class every year she attended the institution and a fully qualified physician of clinical forensic medicine.  She attended the University of East London, where she earned a BSc with Honours in Forensic Science in 2002.

Dr Paul Alexander, PhD has experience in epidemiology and in teaching clinical epidemiology, evidence-based medicine, and research methodology. He is a former Assistant Professor at McMaster University in evidence-based medicine and research methods; former COVID Pandemic evidence-synthesis consultant advisor to WHO-PAHO Washington, DC (2020) and former senior advisor to COVID Pandemic policy in Health and Human Services (HHS) Washington, DC (A Secretary), US government; worked/appointed in 2008 at WHO as a regional specialist/epidemiologist in Europe’s Regional office Denmark, worked for the government of Canada as an epidemiologist for 12 years, appointed as the Canadian in-field epidemiologist (2002-2004) as part of an international CIDA funded, Health Canada executed project on TB/HIV co-infection and MDR-TB control (involving India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Afghanistan, posted to Kathmandu); employed from 2017 to 2019 at Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) Virginia USA as the evidence synthesis meta-analysis systematic review guideline development trainer; currently a COVID-19 consultant researcher in the US-C19 research group.

Dr Peter McCullough, MD, MPH is an internist, cardiologist, epidemiologist.  He manages common infectious diseases as well as the cardiovascular complications of both the viral infection and the injuries developing after the COVID-19 vaccine in Dallas TX, USA.  Since the outset of the pandemic, Dr. McCullough has been a leader in the medical response to the COVID-19 disaster and has published “Pathophysiological Basis and Rationale for Early Outpatient Treatment of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Infection” the first synthesis of sequenced multidrug treatment of ambulatory patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 in the American Journal of Medicine and subsequently updated in Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine.  He has 51 peer-reviewed publications on the infection and has commented extensively on the medical response to the COVID-19 crisis in TheHill, America Out Loud, and on FOX NEWS Channel.  On November 19, 2020, Dr. McCullough testified in the US Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and throughout 2021 in the Texas Senate Committee on Health and Human Services, Colorado General Assembly, New Hampshire Senate, and South Carolina Senate concerning many aspects of the pandemic response.  Dr. McCullough has had 20 months of dedicated academic and clinical efforts in combating the SARS-CoV-2 virus and in doing so, has reviewed thousands of reports, participated in scientific congresses, group discussions, press releases, and has been considered among the world’s experts on COVID-19.

Dr Christina Parks, PhD received her PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan in 1999. She did her graduate research in the field of cytokine signaling (cytokines are the chemicals that the immune system uses to communicate) with a focus on elucidating the mechanisms by which genes are regulated (turned on and off). Dr. Parks has also spent many years studying the biochemistry of how what we put into our bodies affect the expression of genes that are essential to our health and well-being. Thus Dr. Parks brings a wealth of knowledge about the molecular mechanisms by which vaccines may be causing injury to vulnerable immune systems. She has garnered significant attention for her testimony on Michigan House Bill 4471 which seeks to ban discrimination based on vaccine status. In her testimony, she challenged the assumption that COVID vaccines prevent transmission and called vaccine mandate supporters on the carpet for essentially supporting a return to racial segregation since 70% of the African American population are refusing Covid vaccines and will now be excluded from education and the workforce. Dr. Parks has been in the spotlight recently for her outspoken criticism of the misinformation campaign regarding treatments for Covid-10, such as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin, and how their use has been discouraged and even restricted for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. She is warning that there can be no medical freedom when doctors and scientists who have dared to tell the truth are silenced and punished. Dr. Parks has also been closely following the science around the world on the origin of the SARS CoV-2 as well as on the development of the fast-tracked Covid vaccines.

Dr Leland Stillman, MD became a doctor to help people achieve their highest potential. Whether you are struggling with a chronic illness or are seeking the next level of performance in your work, your relationships, or your vocations, he can help you achieve the excellent health that you desire and deserve. You probably realize that modern medicine is focused on “treatments” rather than “cures.” He has little interest in “treating” disease – he is determined to cure disease. Hippocrates, one of history’s greatest physicians, said, “The physician treats, but nature cures.” And Dr Stillman also believes this is possible, even in seemingly, “incurable,” cases. This is why, after completing medical school and specializing in Internal Medicine, he chose to study natural and functional medicine. When he works with his patients, he develops a comprehensive plan to restore and optimize one’s health, using the most scientifically advanced diagnostics and therapeutics available, alongside ancient healing practices that have stood the test of time.

The Watson-Cannonier family and their witnesses recognize the implications this case on Natural Immunity can have on policy adjustments both locally and internationally.  As a result, they are all keen on ensuring that the case goes forward and, for the benefit of broader communities, details of the proceedings are shared in the public domain.
