Pembroke residents connected to Government water service lines were advised to expect scheduled interruptions to their piped water supply over a four-month period starting Tuesday, November 15, to complete the replacement of the infrastructure.
A spokesperson said: “As the significant upgrades to Bermuda’s water and sewage infrastructure continue, the Ministry of Public Works today advised that a water main determined to be past its useful life is to be repaired.
“Area businesses and stakeholders have already received notification from the Ministry of Public Works.”
As of November 15, water service will be shut off on Tuesdays at 10am and restored by 6pm on Fridays, during each week of the construction period.
Minister Burch confirmed that the work will be suspended on Friday, December 16, for four weeks “to ensure water service is available during the Christmas holiday period and added”.
“We are asking affected customers to exercise restraint with water usage during these times to ensure they have sufficient supply during the outages,” he added.
Customers wishing further information on these scheduled service interruptions were advised to contact the Water and Sewage Section by email at water@gov.bm or telephone at 278 0570.
The Ministry also apologised in advance for the inconvenience caused by this necessary work.
