Further information on the most recent Circular of the 2023 Practice Direction was sent out to Bermuda’s attorneys by the Acting Registrar on Friday (Mar 31), advising them of court fee increases.

The notice states: “Although it was anticipated that the increases to the Court’s current fee structure for actions in the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal would come into effect on April 1, 2023, we have been informed that the amendment rules (drafts enclosed with Circular 7 of 2023) will now be tabled on May 5, 2023.

It is anticipated that the amendments will come into effect thereafter, and that documents filed into the Registry of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal on or after May 9, 2023will be subject to the updated fee schedule.”

Signed by the Acting Registrar and copied to the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the Department of Public Prosecutions, Hamilton Police Station, the Commissioners of Police and Corrections, Magistrates’ Court and the Bermuda Bar Association.
