Update: The British Airways flight from London delayed for roughly 40 minutes due to malfunctioning lights on the runway tonight has landed at the LF Wade International Airport, after circling the island while the problem was being rectified.
Reports reaching Bermuda Real indicate that when airport officials flicked the switch there was an apparent problem with the electrical power supply, causing the pilots to change their plans for descent and increase their altitude while the problem was being sorted out.
At one point they were considering diverting to Boston, but fortunately that was not the case.
The commercial airline flight was on approach to Bermuda around 5:30pm when they were advised to hold off while technicians made their way to the new multi-million dollar LF Wade International airport to rectify the problem.
Efforts to get an official comment when the problem emerged tonight were unsuccessful. But the good news is the flight has landed.
