Magistrate Tyrone Chin today remanded two Pembroke men in custody after they were alleged to have beaten a man and then set him on fire.

Jahni Holder, 24, and Ayinde Eve, 25 were formally charged in Magistrates’ Court this morning with causing grievous bodily harm to Jamar Malik and depriving him of his personal liberty.

The incident is alleged to have occurred on September 9 in Pembroke.

Both defendants were not required to enter a plea as the case will go to the Supreme Court, before a judge and jury.

The court heard that the victim suffered second and third degree burns to his arms, chest, back, neck, stomach and his face.

The two men were remanded in custody to appear during the Supreme Court arraignment session in November.
