Bermuda’s motoring public was put on notice today that trench work will cause traffic delays in two parishes as of next Monday until October 29.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works said the work will be carried out by Belco and the Bermuda Land Development Corporation on Mullet Bay Road from Echo Lane to Tiger Bay in St George’s.
The eastbound lane will be closed and area residents were urged not to park on either side of Mullet Bay Road while work continued from 7:30am to 6pm Mondays to Saturdays, with trench work done in 200ft sections at a time.
“Motorists, especially construction vehicles and buses, are asked to use caution when passing the open trench since it may at times be near the centre yellow line and be quite deep,” the spokesperson added.
Traffic control will be conducted by Island Construction with signage and temporary traffic lights.
Belco will also carry out work on Middle Road in Warwick from Khyber Pass to Tamarind Vale.
The eastbound lane will be closed between July 1 and October 29.
Road users were advised to use alternative routes on South Road and Harbour Road via Tamarind Vale.
Detour route signs would be put up as work progressed westwards.

Questions on detour routes and traffic control should be directed to Tina Beer-Searle, the highways civil engineer at the Ministry of Public Works.
