What it takes to get to Bermuda from New York in the midst of the global pandemic is the subject of a new video produced by Jack and Keirnan Coyne, two New York based influencers.
The YouTube video includes the mandatory COVID-19 test required for visitors to the island and the self isolation process while waiting for their post-travel test results at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.
Destinations featured include the hotel’s amenities, Crystal Caves and Admiralty Park.
As of Friday (October 23) the video was approaching 7,000 views.
Starting next week on October 27, travellers to Bermuda will have to an expedited COVID-19 screening service in New York City.
The new service is the result of “a collaboration between the Bermuda Tourism Authority and OpenClear”, which will be offered every Tuesday and Thursday (9 am–3 pm, by appointment only) in Midtown Manhattan.
“The service is designed to help visitors to Bermuda from the New York City area, as well as returning residents of Bermuda, obtain a COVID-19 test result for the island’s pre-trip Travel Authorisation process,” according to the Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA).
“OpenClear’s screening program, led by LEAA Health, includes nasopharyngeal swab collection by a healthcare worker, in line with the Bermuda Department of Health protocols. To book an appointment, travellers must provide proof of travel to Bermuda within seven days (flight number, flight date). They must then apply for a Bermuda Travel Authorisation one to three days before departure and show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than seven days* before departure.
“OpenClear offers three result turnaround times (12–24 hours, 24–48 hours, 48–72 hours), with prices starting at $199. OpenClear is an out-of-network testing service provider and does not accept any insurance for this COVID-19 screening service. Travellers to Bermuda can choose to receive COVID-19 testing services from OpenClear or any authorised healthcare provider.”
