Transport Minister Wayne Furbert will hold a news conference tomorrow to provide an update on the island’s “public bus services and bus charging stations”.

That conference will be held at the Department of Transportation headquarters on Palmetto Road in Devonshire at 2pm.

You may recall the Ministry’s stated commitment back in August, to improving the service last year, with ongoing upgrades, including the introduction of new and improved electric buses.

All this to improve the ageing bus fleet that has led to a slew of ongoing bus cancelations and delays.

In statement addressing Bermuda’s “dedicated customer base” last year, the Minister said he was “grateful for the public’s support” as the Government “navigates “this period of high demand and the challenges of meeting that demand”.

At that time, he added: “We are focused on finding immediate and long-term solutions to address the shortage of public buses and improve the reliability of our transportation system. This will include some modified scheduling enabling is to meet peak demand.”
