Police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision just outside of Four Star Pizza in Sandys, where “a tractor trailer carrying a crane” tipped over, “breaking two Belco utility poles” and crashing into part of the building.
Police say the accident occurred around 12:55pm this afternoon, near the junction with Tankard Lane on Somerset Road.
A police spokesman said: “Early indications suggest that a tractor trailer carrying a crane was attempting to negotiate a right hand bend when the load became unstable, causing the crane tip over, breaking two Belco utility poles as it fell, before crashing into part of the Four Star Pizza Building.
“There were no reported injuries, however some residents in the Somerset area are without power and traffic delays are to be expected.”
Police were diverting traffic along Scott’s Hill Road and Sound View Road in the interim.
