The Ministry of Health has issued the go ahead to reopen Tobacco Bay beach to swimmers, after tests this weekend showed levels of bacteria “have dropped to within the normal range”.
A spokeswoman said: “Monitoring by Environmental Health scientists will continue and seawater sampling results will be updated later this week.
The Health Ministry issued a public advisory last Wednesday (September 20th), that the beach was closed to swimmers due to “higher than normal levels of water-borne bacteria”.
Regular tests are carried out to monitor bacterial levels to ensure that they do not exceed the Department’s acceptable limit.
