TNN reports today that a Bermudian Customs Officer was arrested on Friday, November 29, in connection with an alleged incident involving a Canadian National.
“Further investigation by TNN suggest the alleged offenses are believed to be sexual assault.
“TNN sought confirmation from the Bermuda Police Media Relations office,” the report added.
The police statement said: “The Bermuda Police Service can confirm the arrest of a 41-year-old man in relation to an ongoing investigation by law enforcement authorities in Canada.
“The specifics of the investigation cannot be disclosed at this time.”
Further inquiries by TNN “to the BPS on the next course of action in relation to this case”, indicate “that the individual will be extradited to Canada to face charges”.
When asked if in fact that was the case, a police spokesman told TNN: “As stated, the 41-year-old male was arrested in connection with an investigation into a matter in another jurisdiction, any extradition matters will have to be dealt with before the courts.”
