New York Daily News: MANHATTAN – A 3-year-old boy died Friday following a fall from a Harlem apartment building, according to police.

Little Daniel Galeas fell from the fourth floor of the five-story building on W 133rd St. near Frederick Douglass Blvd around 10:30am cops said.

Daniel did not live in the building, but was being watched by his aunt, who lived on the fourth floor, according to authorities. A handful of other small children, and a few adults, were in the apartment when the tragedy occurred.

The child apparently pushed out a cardboard side panel framing an air conditioner in a window in a rear bedroom. He then wormed out onto the ledge and fell, said a police source with knowledge of the incident. A bed was next to the air conditioner.

An adult was in the room with Daniel, but couldn’t grab him in time.

The child fell straight down into a small backyard, landing on a set of rear concrete steps that led to the basement, the source said.

First responders found the child and rushed him to Harlem Hospital, but he couldn’t be saved, according to police.

EMS also removed a grief-stricken woman found hyperventilating in the apartment. She was taken to an area hospital for observation.

“Everyone in the apartment is devastated and crushed,” a police source said.

Police were investigating Friday. No charges were immediately filed.
