A 17-year-old Pembroke teenager was released on $3,000 bail after he denied the theft of a handbag from a Canadian tourist and a string of offences.

Zaire Burrows pleaded not guilty in Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (September 3) to the theft of a Longchamp handbag, a credit card, a Canadian driver’s licence and an iPhone, with a total value of $1,050.

He also denied stealing a motorcycle, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident and operating a motorcycle that was over 50cc while underage.

The alleged offences were said in court to have occurred between August 21 and 23.

Senior Magistrate Juan Wolffe released the teenager on $3,000 bail and adjourned the case. A trial date is pending.
