News Release: HAMILTON, Bermuda – Today, the Women’s Resource Centre in partnership with the International Women’s Day (IWD) Bermuda Committee hosted an event at the Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall to commemorate International Women’s Day with the theme of “Inspire Inclusion”.

The exceptional 2023 Woman of the Year, Patrina O’Connor-Paynter, demonstrated her incredible talent as the emcee, guiding the audience through the program gracefully and enthusiastically.

Tammy Richardson, Partner at Appleby, was introduced as the 2024 Woman of the Year. Tammy’s outstanding achievements, including being a lawyer, mother, and advocate with an unwavering dedication to victims and survivors of domestic abuse, set her apart. As a certified facilitator and ambassador for the One Love Foundation, she has raised awareness about relationship abuse and provided support in Bermuda.

As a Partner at Appleby, Tammy brings her expertise to bear on professional and community boards including the Bermuda Monetary Authority, Aspen Insurance Group, Saltus Grammar School, Bermuda End to End, and WeSpeak Bermuda. She has partnered with local charities such as the Women’s Resource Centre, Centre Against Abuse, The Coalition for The Protection of Children, and The Family Centre to amplify the voices of those impacted by domestic abuse.

Tiffany Paynter, the Executive Director of OUTBermuda and Founder of SOHAM, emphasized the importance of creating a more loving and just world, through self-awareness, honesty and compassion. Kristin White, a community organizer, entrepreneur, and writer, challenged ideas of inclusion that require the exclusion of others.

Juanae Crockwell, Executive Director of the Women’s Resource Centre, closed the event by reminding the audience of the women in our community with limited access to support, resources and opportunities and encouraged them to join the WRC’s advocacy efforts.

Special thanks and gratitude to the event sponsors for their generous support: Appleby, Arch Re, BF&M, Butterfield, Chubb, EY, F&G Life, Fidelity, Goslings, Grant Thornton, KPMG, Wakefield Quinn, and Willis Towers Watson.
