After hearing more than a month of evidence put forward by the Crown, the Supreme Court trial of a 25-year-old Warwick man ended with a hung jury after the panel failed to reach a verdict.

Kiari Tucker is now back on remand at Westgate Correctional Facility facing a retrial on a charge of murder stemming from the death of Morlan Steede, 35, and using a firearm in 2017.

His trial started last month on November 4 and was expected to finish yesterday (Dec 6).

But after nearly five hours of deliberation behind closed doors, the jury returned to say they were unable to reach a verdict.

Tucker was remanded in custody by Puisne Judge Juan Wolffe after he discharged the jury and adjourned the case until February 1, when another trial date will be set.
