The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) has confirmed the death of a 16-year-old girl who sadly lost her life as a result of a fatal road traffic accident on Sunday (May 30), marking the fifth death on Bermuda’s roads this year.

The St George’s teenager was riding a 50cc scooter that collided with a van travelling in the opposite direction on South Road, near the junction with Dolphin Ridge in Southampton.

Police say the accident occurred around 12:15pm and that the rider was travelling east. She was given CPR at the scene before she was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, where she succumbed to her injuries.

A BPS spokesman extended sincere condolences to the young girl’s family, relatives and friends. A family liaison officer has also been assigned to render support.

Police gave condolences to her loved ones, who have been assigned a family liaison officer for support.

The driver of the van was not injured.
