Just back from Gilbraltar where they attended the AGM of the International Island Games and saw the venue for next year’s event, Sports Minister Lovitta Foggo welcomed members of Bermuda’s NatWest Island Games team yesterday.
“Donning their vibrant pink and blue Bermuda national team uniform and clad with their medals the team members represented the sports of athletics, swimming, bowling, squash, volleyball and badminton,” a spokesperson said.
“During their visit, Minister Foggo took the opportunity to personally congratulate the team members following their recent success at the games in Gibraltar.
“She also expressed her appreciation to them for representing Bermudian excellence on the global sports stage. Minister Foggo shared with the team that all of Bermuda was proud of their performance and wished them continued success in their future sporting pursuits.”
Chairman of the Bermuda Island Games, Jon Beard, Secretary, Juanita Blee and Paul Scope, of the International Island Games executive, attended the meeting along with representatives of 24 islands in Gilbraltar.
Mr Beard has stated that he was “in awe” of the new facilities.
He also noted that “Bermuda’s teams can be sure of a warm welcome and superb facilities”.
