Police today confirmed yet another shotting incident following reports of gunshots being fired last night in the area of Court Street and Elliot Street in the City of Hamilton.

Officers were dispatched to the area shortly after 11pm, where they conducted a search and recovered one spent shell.

A spokesman said there were no reports of anyone being injured.

“Subsequent checks at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital indicated no one had visited the facility seeking treatment for gunshot wounds,” he added.

An investigation into this incident is now underway.

There were several people at nearby establishments at the time of the incident.

Police are today urging them to call the main police number, 295-0011.

“You may also call the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers number 800-8477,” he said. “Alternatively, we urge you to share the information with a police officer you know.”

This was the second confirmed firearms incident of the week, after another man on Tribe Road No 5 near Ord Road, Paget, on Wednesday.
