Police arrested a senior citizen on suspicion of driving while impaired on Friday night, following a three-vehicle accident on Middle Road in Paget.

The accident occurred near the junction with Cedars Drive around 9:45pm on Friday, March 2nd.

A spokesman said it appears that the car the man was driving, which was travelling west “collided with a motorcycle being ridden in the opposite direction, as well as another car being driven east”.

“Traffic was diverted away from the scene and the driver of the westbound car, believed to be a 65-year-old Smith’s Parish man, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

“Both the motorcycle rider, believed to be a 54-year-old Hamilton Parish man and the driver of the eastbound car, believed to be a 40-year-old Warwick woman, were hurt,” he said.

They were transported to the hospital’s Emergency Department for treatment via ambulance and updates on their conditions will be released in due course.

All three vehicles involved were damaged.

Police officers also attended a reported single vehicle car crash on St David’s Road in St George’s, around 9:30 this morning, near the junction with Chapel of Ease Road.

A police spokesman said the car, being driven west on St David’s Road, struck a roadside embankment and overturned.

Officers were dispatched to the scene of another single vehicle car crash that occurred early Saturday morning around 6:30am.

The accident occurred on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish, near the junction with Sunnyside Drive.

The car, being driven east struck and ended up on top of the roadside embankment. The driver, a 30-year-old Hamilton Parish man walked away uninjured. 

Both damaged vehicles were eventually towed away.
