Junior Minister of Social Development and Sports, Senator Jason Hayward threw his support behind the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Fundraising Campaign launch yesterday, which raises money for those most in need in the community.

Also on hand for the official launch outside of City Hall, was Anglican Bishop of Bermuda, the Rt Revd Nicholas Dill, Mayor of Hamilton Charles Gosling, and representatives from the Salvation Army.

The funds collected in these kettles all go towards the Salvation Army’s Christmas programming which includes a Christmas hamper program for seniors and families, a toy drive for children and providing hot meals for the homeless and seniors throughout the month of December, among many other things.

Noting that Christmas isn’t always a joyful time, Sen Hayward described the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign as a “lifesaver for many”.

“The Salvation Army are collecting money for the people on our island who need it most,” he said. “I would urge the residents of Bermuda – from all sectors of the community – to support this year’s Christmas Kettle Campaign in any way that they can.”
