The quangoes that fall under the Ministry of Public Works “are joining forces to hold a free seminar focused on supplying small construction firms with information to assist them to win new business opportunities as they arise”.
A spokesperson said: “The aim of the seminar is desgned to assist small to medium sized contractors to understand the tenders, bids and RFP processes for the quangos”.
Wedco General Manager, Andrew Dias said: “It is extremely important to make the process of winning new business as easy and as transparent as possible.
“We wish to provide information and face-to-face time to assist small business with the necessary information to make this process less challenging. The seminar is aimed at small to medium sized businesses, which are the lifeblood to our economy so it is vital to give them as much help and guidance as possible,” he said.
Curtiss Smith, BLDC’s Design and Construction Manager added: “BLDC is committed to providing opportunities to local contractors and creating employment opportunities. This presentation will help them better understand how our respective bidding and tender processes work and identify areas where their responsiveness may need elevating, so they can submit competitive proposals and maximize their potential of being successful.”
The seminar will be split into three parts:
- How to bid on a project – where to find them; what a bid should include and what people need to know about entering into a contract
- How are bids assessed – what is the process and what criteria are bids measured by; and
- How are bids awarded – when is the bid status announced to bidders and what happens when a bid contract has been won
