All systems are go for the opening night of Destination Dockyard this evening, following a one-week delay due to inclement weather last week.
A full slate of entertainment is planned featuring vendors and other attractions for the summer-long weekly event held on the North Lawn at the Royal Naval Dockyard.
More than 20 businesses will be on hand throughout the peak tourism season with items ranging from wood fired pizzas to local jewellery and other culturally designed trinkets, every Monday evening from 6.30pm to 9.30pm through to August 26.
Live entertainment includes a host of local DJs and entertainers with DJ iBreeze and Hindsight slated to appear tonight with dancers from Bermuda Dance Academy.
Spokesperson Stephanie Rodill, the marketing and events manager for the West End Development Corporation, said the delay made the organisers “even more determined to put on a brilliant show” this evening.
For the second season of Destination Dockyard events, Wedco partnered with PinkSand Entertainment and the Bermuda Tourism Authority to run the series.
Jonathan Tankard, head of PinkSand, said: “We are treating this as our opening night and we are raring to go and put on a great show that all the family, locals and visitors will enjoy.
“Dockyard is a must go-to destination tonight,” he added.
The Clocktower Mall will also stay open until 9pm on Monday evenings.
