Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene, another visitor tragically lost her life on our roads today, while vacationing in Bermuda.
Police say the fatal accident occurred on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish around 1:45pm this afternoon “involving a female visitor on rental scooter and a truck”.
A police spokesperson said, “Several 911 calls were received regarding a serious collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Cottage Hill Road.
“It appears that a visitor on a rental scooter collided with a heavy truck in the vicinity of the Dub City Variety store.
“CPR was performed at the scene before the injured visitor was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.
“Sadly, despite lifesaving efforts the female visitor involved, said to be a 49-year-old American woman, has been pronounced dead at the hospital.
“No further information regarding the deceased will be released at this time, pending next of kin notification,” he said.
“A full investigation regarding this road fatality, the sixth for 2019, is underway and any witnesses are now urged to call the main police telephone number 295-0011 as soon as possible.”
Traffic diversions were put into effect while the scene was being processed by police this afternoon.

As of 4pm, traffic diversions were no longer in effect as the investigation continues.
