Bermuda’s own Nahki Wells making big news headlines today after Queen’s Park Rangers (QPR) “made the perfect start to 2020 by smashing six goals past Cardiff City at Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium on New Year’s Day”.
QPR website reports Wells “broke the deadlock on nine minutes and two strikes from Bright Osayi-Samuel had the R’s in control by half-time”.
“Two more Wells goals in the second half – which came either side of an Ebere Eze tap-in – saw him complete his hat-trick and the only blotch on the day was Will Vaulks’ very late consolation for the Bluebirds,” the report added.
The final score was 6-1.
Wells, who had not scored a goal since QPR’s 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough on November 9 pulled off a stunning hat-trick on New Year’s Day marking his twelfth goal and first hat-trick since August 2014.
After the game Wells said on Instagram: “Starting 2020 off right. Great team effort.”
Mark Warburton, the QPR manager, said: “The one difference is that we put the ball in the back of the net. The stats are the same as the other games we played, but today we were far more clinical. As long as we create chances, then come the end of the season we’ll be in a good place.
“It’s about creating quality chances and we’ve been doing that — look at the chances we’ve missed. Today we scored.”
