News Release: HAMILTON, Bermuda – The Ministry of Public Works advised Sunday evening that Waste Management staff continue working to clear the backlog of garbage.

It should be stressed that collection delays have been due to mechanical challenges being experienced with the trash truck fleet.

As of Friday afternoon, there were four trucks in operation, with an additional two trucks re-entering service over the weekend.

The Ministry is encouraging residents to use the Tynes Bay public drop-off to dispose of household waste, recycled hazardous materials such as paints and pesticides, and bulky items.

Lastly, the Ministry advised that additional maintenance support will be on island in the coming days to assist in repairs, ultimately helping to get more vehicles back in service.

The Ministry takes this opportunity to apologise to the public for any inconvenience caused due to the delays in trash collection and will issue further updates as they become available.
