News Release: HAMILTON, Bermuda – The Ministry of Public Works Waste Management Section is advising the public that garbage collection will be delayed today and through the end of the week.
Staff shortages within the maintenance team due to vacation coverage and training, in addition to the ongoing supply chain issues, have led to a backlog of vehicles awaiting repair.
The Ministry hopes to have this backlog cleared and more vehicles in service by the end of the week.
The Waste Collection Team is working today to finish the collection of Tuesday’s waste and will start to collect today’s waste later today.
The Ministry appreciates the public’s patience and asks them to remember to do their part in managing household waste by storing their bagged waste in lidded bins to minimise issues associated with lost garbage bags.
Vermin, wild birds and neighbourhood pets can readily tear open garbage bags, leading to waste and litter fouling our neighbourhoods and roadsides.
The public is also reminded that the Tynes Bay Public Drop-Off is open from 7am to 7pm – 7 days a week and is a free drop-off for drivers of private cars, L and LP vehicles.
