East end residents and residents who live between Scott’s Hill Road in Sandys and Whale Bay in Southampton will have noticed that household garbage was not collected on Friday.

The Waste Management Section of the Ministry of Public Works is advising residents that collection in the western parishes, which began on Thursday, January 25, was due to be completed by Friday afternoon, “with the exception of areas between Scott’s Hill Road and Whale Bay Road”.

A Ministry spokeswoman said: “The normal waste collection schedule will resume next week with the west end being serviced on Monday and Thursday and the east end being serviced on Tuesday and Friday.

“In areas where trash has yet to be collected, the Ministry is requesting that residents secure garbage bags in lidded bins,” she added.

“As a reminder, the public can take their waste and recyclables to the Tynes Bay Public Drop off which is open from 7am – 6pm, Monday through Friday, 7am – 7pm on Saturday and from 1pm – 6pm on Sunday.

“The Ministry apologises to the public for the inconvenience.”
