Bermuda’s Premier, David Burt has confirmed that he has tested positive for COVID-19 for a second time, after a post-Budget news conference was called off on Monday (Feb 28).

The annual Budget breakfast hosted by the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce was also postponed until Thursday.

In a statement released last night, Mr Burt said that he had tested positive for the coronavirus on Sunday night, but that he was in good health.

He took a home test after he got an email notification that he had been in contact last week with someone who had later tested positive.

Mr Burt added that he isolated immediately and that he would hold meetings on a remote basis this week.

“I look forward to returning back to the office next week to continue progressing the Government’s agenda,” he said.

The Premier, who contracted COVID last April, also noted that he was fully vaccinated and had received a booster shot.
