Premier David Burt offered condolences to the family of the 27-year-old man who was killed in a fatal marine incident on a jet ski after the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) confirmed the death of Lavonte Williams.
The young man was thrown from his jet ski while out on the Great Sound around 7pm on Sunday (June 28).
“It is certainly tragic to lose a life so young,” said Premier Burt.
“But it’s a reminder to all of us that we must make sure that we are taking extra precautions when we are out on the water, as it can be dangerous.”
A boat carried Mr Williams to shore at Jews Bay in Southampton where he was rushed via ambulance to the hospital’s Emergency Department, where he was pronounced dead.
A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to assist the family of the deceased during this difficult time.
