Westbound motorists were held up in traffic and cleared before midnight as a result of another single vehicle accident in Southampton West that landed another male motorcyclist in hospital last night,

Police say the accident occurred shortly before 10pm on Sunday (June 30) on Middle Road near the junction with Luke’s Pond Road, a frequent accident spot in recent weeks, if not months.

A police spokeswoman said: “Information suggests a male riding a motorcycle in an easterly direction hit a wall, causing him to fall off the motorcycle.”

He was taken to King Edward Memorial IIV Hospital for treatment of his injuries,

No official word yet on the extent of those injuries, or whether or not they are considered to be life-threatening..

Police were directing traffic along the railway trail using a single lane system, whilst traffic investigators process the scene with traffic delays cleared before midnight.
