The driver of a car that overturned in a single vehicle crash on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish was arrested by police last night on suspicion of impaired driving.

Police say both the woman driving the care and her passenger sustained minor injuries. The accident occurred around 8pm (May 23), near the junction with Cottage Hill Road.

A spokesman said: “It appears that the car was being driven in the eastbound lane of North Shore Road when it struck a wall and overturned, damaging a section of the wall.

Apparently both the driver, said to be a 36-year-old Hamilton Parish woman and front seat passenger, said to be a 41-year-old Canadian man, sustained minor injuries.

The driver was later arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

By approximately 9:35pm Thursday, the scene had been processed, the damaged car towed away and traffic flow in the area had returned to normal.”

Meanwhile, inquiries continue and any witnesses are asked to call Constable Stephen Allen on the main police telephone number 295-0011.
