Police are investigating two road traffic collisions, including a single vehicle accident that left a car overturned on Middle Road in Southampton.
A spokesman said the incident occurred around 5:55pm on Friday (April 9), near Industrial Park, “when the driver reportedly swayed onto the opposite side of the road and struck a wall, causing the car to flip on its roof”.
“The driver complained of pain to his ribs, back and neck,” he said.
“He was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to his injuries which were not considered life-threatening.
“Enquiries into this incident are ongoing.”
Police and other first responders responded to the report of another accident – a two vehicle collision near Bethel AME Church on North Shore in Hamilton Parish around 9pm.
“Initial investigations indicated a motorcar pulled of the entrance of the church carpark and made a right turn headed east on North Shore Road, when it was struck by a motorcycle headed west, reportedly travelling at a high rate of speed,” a spokesman said.
“The motorcycle rider was thrown about 60ft into the air before landing on the roadway.
“He is said to have sustained a chest injury which was described as life-threatening and was transported via ambulance to hospital for treatment.
“Enquiries into this collision are ongoing.”
And police are investigating the fire reported at Pig’s Field on Bandroom Lane in Pembroke that occurred shortly before 10pm on Saturday (April 10).
“Upon arrival officers found the playground equipment at the park engulfed,” the spokesman said
“Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded with two appliances and shortly after extinguished the blaze
“An investigation of the scene by fire investigator and officers from the police Criminal Investigations Unit determined the cause of the fire was suspicious.
“Enquiries into all incidents are ongoing.”
