A 60-year-old Paget man escaped injury following a single vehicle crash in Southampton around 5:20pm on Saturday, January 5, where the car ended up overboard near Five Star Island.

A police spokesman said today: “It now appears that the car involved was being driven in the eastbound lane of Middle Road when it struck the roadside wooden fence, went down an embankment and ended up overboard, partially submerged, in the vicinity of Five Star Island.

“Apparently the driver, said to be a 60 year old Paget man, escaped the crash unharmed and was the only person in the vehicle at the time.

“There were minimal traffic delays in the area following the incident and it is understood arrangements will be made to remove the car involved in due course.”

Any witnesses to this crash are urged to call the main police telephone number 295-0011.
