Police are today investigating yet another shooting incident on Court Street that left two men injured, who were treated at the hospital’s Emergency Department and later released.

Police say the incident occurred at 11:20pm last night (July 25), between Dundonald and Elliot Streets in Pembroke, near the Spinning Wheel nightclub.

A spokesman said: “Both victims were transported via private vehicles to the hospital’s Emergency Department.”

Chief Inspector Arthur Glasford said this morning that it was “still too early in the investigation to piece together who was involved”.

He also lamented the fact that this incident marred what was a successful start of the new Court Street Market.

“To think that earlier today (Sunday) there was an expression of real community spirit with this same area set up as a street market with people from not just Pembroke, but other areas as well, visiting to patronise the various vendors and spend quality time with their families,” he said.

“Now we’re dealing with this senseless act of violence.”

Police are now appealing for anyone who was in the Court Street area around the time of the shooting to contact the independent, confidential Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477, the serious crime unit at 247-1749, or 211.
