Thanks to the assistance of members of the public, police have confirmed that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the hit and run incident which occurred at the junction of Bishop Spencer Lane and Palmetto Road in Pembroke on Sunday (March 7).
“We wish to thank those who provided information as the investigation into that incident was carried out,” a spokesman said.
The accident left a 31-year-old woman with serious injuries on Sunday night.
“Police and EMS personnel were dispatched to the scene and on arrival discovered the woman had sustained facial, neck and back injuries and was going in and out of consciousness,” the spokesman added.
It is believed the victim was riding a black Yamaha Mio west on Palmetto Road when she was hit by a silver Suzuki Swift car as it attempted to turn right onto Palmetto Road.
The driver reportedly pulled into the bus lay-by east of the Palmetto Road junction and got out of the car before they left the scene.
