Initial reports circulating on the recent death of a 70-year-old man, who was found dead at his residence on Victoria Street in Hamilton, have now prompted an official police investigation.

In a statement released this morning, police confirmed that as a result of information provided by members of the public, police are now looking for two men “involved in an altercation near the Ex-artillery Club” between 8pm on Friday, June 10 and 3am on Saturday, June 11.

He also thanked “those members of the public who have provided us with information”.

As a result, he appealed to anyone “who may have witnessed” these two men “to please get in contact with us”.

Anyone with information on this matter is asked to call 211, the main police number, 295-0011 or, as in the case of those who have already come forward, speak with an officer you know.
