Police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service and ambulance personnel responded to a 911 call around 11am this morning, reporting an unresponsive man floating in waters near the Railway Trail in the North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish area.
A police spokesman: “Initial information indicates that the man had been fishing in the area, located across from Shelly Bay MarketPlace.
“Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel retrieved the unresponsive man from the water and commenced CPR, which continued as he was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.
“However, despite these lifesaving efforts the 53 year old man, believed to be a Devonshire resident, was later pronounced dead.
“No further information regarding the deceased will be provided at this time, pending notification of his next of kin.
“The scene has been cordoned off and is being processed by the relevant police personnel.”
