News Release: HAMILTON, Bermuda – Troublingly, six people were arrested for driving whilst impaired over the weekend with at least two of them involved in road traffic collisions.

One person recorded a minimum reading of 300 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood. Remember now, the legal limit is 80 milligrams in 100 milliliters.

It was one offender’s third time being arrested for driving while impaired. Yes you read right, their third time.

Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, or worse in any of these incidents.

This irresponsible behaviour is based on personal decision and what can only be described as a lack of concern for the safety and wellbeing of other road users.

We will remain vigilant and continue enforcement measures against this practice, but that will not be enough.

“Individuals must take responsibility for their behaviour and the decisions they make in operating a vehicle after having been drinking or having used any other mind altering substance, prescribed or otherwise.”
