A 38-year-old Pembroke man was treated for “various wounds – including head wounds”, was treated and discharged from the hospital’s Emergency Department last night (July 21) following a single vehicle motorcycle crash in Paget.
But he was arrested on suspicion of riding while impaired shortly after his release.
Police say the accident occurred around 9:15pm on Sunday on South Road near the junction with Cataract Hill.
A spokesman said: “It appears that the motorcyclist involved, said to be a 38 year old Pembroke man, was traveling east on South Road in the vicinity of Paraquet Restaurant when he struck the kerb.
“Information from witnesses at the scene suggested that the 38 year old man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
“He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Traffic in the area was reduced to one lane while the scene was processed.”
