Police and first responders rushed to the scene of an early morning accident on Middle Road in Southampton near Granaway Heights – a frequent accident spot, where a motorcycle and car collided.

Police say the accident occurred around 7:20am, which caused traffic delays during the morning rush hour commute into Hamilton for west end motorists.

A spokesman said: “It appears that a motorcyclist was traveling west along Middle Road and a car was attempting to exit Granaway Heights Road when the collision occurred.

“The rider, said to be a 36-year-old Warwick man, sustained an injury to his finger. The car driver, said to be a 68-year-old Southampton woman, was not hurt.

 “Morning commuters also experienced traffic delays in the surrounding area while inquiries were conducted at the scene.
