A 69-year-old American visitor lost his life while vacationing in Bermuda while swimming at Horseshoe Bay Beach this afternoon.
Police and first responders were dispatched to a report of an unresponsive man in the water near the South Shore beach in Southampton around 2:15pm.
While details are limited at this point in time, a spokesman said: “Initial information suggests that the man involved, believed to be a 69-year-old American visitor, was unconscious when he was brought to shore by members of the public.
“CPR was performed at the scene and continued during transport via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, but the man was later pronounced dead,” he said.
“Foul play is not suspected and no further information regarding the deceased will be provided at this time, until his next of kin has been notified.”
