Police recovered another firearm as a result of a routine traffic stop in St George’s yesterday.

While conducting road traffic checks on Mullet Bay Road shortly before 4:30pm, they stopped a motorcar driven by a 22-year-old male.

“Officers conducted a search of his person and a quantity of controlled drugs was found in his possession. He was arrested and escorted to HPS where he was processed and detained,” a spokesman said.

“A warrant was subsequently executed at the subject’s residence. During a search at that location, a firearm was recovered and seized.

“Officers also recovered and seized a large quantity controlled drugs along with an amount of cash,” he added.

“An investigation into this matter is underway and no further information will be provided at this time.”
