Police are today investigating another smash and grab incident, this time at the Shelly Bay Tigermart gas station in Hamilton Parish.
The early morning break in occurred around 5am, when the culprit smashed his way in through the glass door with a hammer, before leaving with packs of cigarettes.
Fortunately there were no gas station employees on the job when the incident occurred, but two employees at the station’s Buzz concession were at work.
The station’s owner is quoted as saying they saw the man, who was wearing a helmet brandishing a hammer. When he smashed through the glass the two Buzz employees fled to a room in the back.
Police have since processed the scene forensically and an update is pending.
