A Pembroke man in his 20s was shot multiple times earlier today (March 30), while on the job in St George’s.

Police say the incident occurred shortly before 3pm in the area around Somers Gardens, which is now being treated as a gang related shooting by the Serious Crime Unit.

The victim was working at a trenching job on York Street when he was shot “multiple times in the body”, resulting in injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

A spokesman said police chased two suspects, who fled the scene on a motorcycle. But they evaded the pursuing officers around Paynters Road.

A subsequent search of the area was conducted.

One suspect was described as light brown skinned with “a thick moustache and a colourful jacket”.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 295 0011 and Crime Stoppers on 800 8477.
