Police inquiries continue tonight after a video of a motorcyclist fleeing from police went viral on the local social media circuit.
A police spokesman said the incident occurred around 9:45pm on Saturday, March 9 when officers on mobile patrol in Warwick “encountered a male motorcyclist near the Warwick Esso Service Station on Middle Road and approached him regarding a traffic offence.
“The man rode off and attempted to elude officers in the Smith’s Avenue, Warwick area off Khyber Pass. However, other police officers were already in the Smith’s Avenue area conducting a proactive policing initiative – causing the rider, believed to be a 21-year-old man – to drop the motorcycle and make good his escape on foot.”
Inquiries continue regarding the man involved in relation to the traffic offence.
