Another male motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital’s Emergency Department this evening, following a collision with a public bus at the South Shore junction on Middle Road in Southampton.

Police say the accident occurred around 6:20pm.

“Initial enquires suggest that the bus was attempting to exit the South Road junction heading east on Middle Road, and the motorcycle was also travelling east on Middle Road when the collision occurred,” a spokeswoman said.

“The male motorcycle rider is believed to have sustained a head injury and was conveyed to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment. The male bus driver was not reported to be injured.

“There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the collision.”

Traffic was being diverted at the Middle Road /South Road junction and the Church Road/Middle Road junction.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact police constable Melissa Butler via email, or call 211.

“This is the second serious collision that emergency services have had to respond to, in less than six hours,” the spokeswoman added.

“We are urging the motoring public to slow down.”
