A 56-year-old man who sustained multiple gun shot wounds in an attack that occurred in broad daylight, is today listed in stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Car Unit.

Police say the incident occurred at Darrell’s Wharf in Warwick around 7:30pm last night when the victim, who was in a car parked at the dock got out to stretch his legs.

Chief Inspector Robert Cardwell said the victim was approached by two men on a black motorcycle, who opened fire before they fled the scene heading west on Harbour Road.

The rider was said to be wearing dark clothing and the passenger was wearing a light blue jacket.

While police say it’s still too early to tell whether or not it was a targeted hit, a number of eye witnesses have already come forward as officers examine CCTV footage in the area.

Police were alerted by a passer-by, who flagged down a motorist who stopped to help.

People in the area at the time of the incident said it sounded like at least eight shots were fired.

Meanwhile, anyone with information is urged to call 211 or, the main police number, 295-0011.
