A 29-year-old woman remains in police custody tonight following a stabbing incident at the Gulf Stream Emergency Housing complex in St David’s that left a 34-year-old man with non-life threatening wounds.

Police say the incident occurred around 8:20pm on Saturday (November 23) when a verbal dispute between the two “turned physical, with the woman apparently stabbing the man in his upper torso with a knife”.

A spokesman said: “It was also reported that the 29-year-old woman got into a scuffle with a 28-year-old St George’s woman, scratching the younger woman’s neck during the incident.

Security personnel at the premises intervened, detaining the 29 year old woman and seizing the knife until police arrived.

It is understood that the three residents involved are known to each other,” he added.

Emergency medical technicians provided first aid to the 34-year-old man on site, before he was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of his injury. He was later discharged.

The 29-year-old woman was arrested and remains in police custody at this time, pending further inquiries by the Criminal Investigation Department.

A court appearance is anticipated in due course.”
