Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in broad daylight yesterday afternoon, that left a 29-year-old man wounded after he fought off his assailants who demanded that he hand over a bracelet.
The incident occurred around 4pm yesterday on St Anne’s Road in Southampton.
Police say the 29-year-old man and his female companion were walking south on St Anne’s Road near Henry VII, when two men on a white motorcycle approached them and demanded that he hand over his bracelet. A struggle ensued, and at one point the victim was pistol whipped with what appeared to be a gun. He was struck in the face with the weapon, and was also cut on the shoulder by the other suspect who was armed with a knife. Fortunately his wounds were not considered to be life threatening.
The couple ran towards the Lighthouse and the two suspects rode off in an unknown direction. The rider is described as a tall, thin light complexioned male and the passenger is said to be dark complexioned and short empty handed because the victim, although injured, kept his bracelet.
Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen two males in the Southampton/Warwick area between 3:50pm and 5:30pm on Tuesday, December 19th fitting the description above to contact Detective Sergeant Renay Rock on 295-0011.
