Officers on mobile patrol recovered a gun and ammunition last night in Pembroke.

A spokesman said the incident occurred around 12.30am, when the officers approached a small group of people.

“Upon seeing the officers, a male member of the group ran off and dropped a number of items as he fled,” the spokesman said.

“Officers recovered the items, which included a firearm and a quantity of ammunition. The subject was subsequently arrested after he was discovered hiding at a nearby residence.

“An investigation into this matter is under way.”
